Eight Katyusha rockets were fired at Balad airbase in Saladin province which houses the US forces resulting in having four members of the Iraqi Air Force wounded as Iraqi Security Media Cell confirmed in a statement noted that two of them were officers. Sources indicate that rockets were fallen on the runway inside the base.

Taal, the Philippines’ second most active volcano has begun spewing lava, as authorities warn that a “hazardous eruption” is possible “within hours or days”. In the early hours of Monday weak lava began flowing out of Taal volcano- located some 70km (45 miles) south of the capital Manila. It comes after it emitted a huge plume of ash triggering the evacuation of some 8,000 people from the area. Authorities have now raised the alert level from 3 to 4, out of a maximum of 5.

Real Madrid were crowned champions of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating rivals Atletico Madrid via a penalty shootout in the final on Sunday. The match was played at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A close goalless first half was followed by an equally tense second half. Finally, it was Real Madrid’s goalkeeper who made the difference in the shootout, saving a penalty to ensure his team were crowned champions.
