Taal, the Philippines’ second most active volcano has begun spewing lava, as authorities warn that a “hazardous eruption” is possible “within hours or days”. In the early hours of Monday weak lava began flowing out of Taal volcano- located some 70km (45 miles) south of the capital Manila. It comes after it emitted a huge plume of ash triggering the evacuation of some 8,000 people from the area. Authorities have now raised the alert level from 3 to 4, out of a maximum of 5.
Real Madrid were crowned champions of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating rivals Atletico Madrid via a penalty shootout in the final on Sunday. The match was played at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A close goalless first half was followed by an equally tense second half. Finally, it was Real Madrid’s goalkeeper who made the difference in the shootout, saving a penalty to ensure his team were crowned champions.
