One person was killed and eight others wounded during a knife attack at a subway stop near Lyon, France. Three of the eight victims were seriously wounded and the single fatality was a 19-year-old man. The suspected attacker is a 33-year-old asylum seeker who has been taken into custody, according to Lyon Mayor Gerard Collomb. The assault occurred in Villeurbanne, a suburb of the southeastern city of Lyon, about 4:30 p.m .French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner, via Twitter, expressed his condolences to “friends and family of the young man killed.”
At least five people have been killed and many more injured in the second mass shooting in the US state of Texas in a month. First to be shot was a policeman who stopped the gunman’s car between the cities of Midland and Odessa. The gunman went on to shoot at numerous motorists and passers-by. At one point, he abandoned his car and stole a postal truck before continuing his spree. He was shot dead by police at a cinema complex. About 20 people were injured – three of them police officers – in this latest incident of gun violence in America.
Tourist mini bus falls from Baranan Mountain on Sulimani road killing and injured 21 individuals. Rezhan Burhan, Director of Traffic Police in Darbandikhan said “The mini bus was carrying two Arab families visiting from Diyala province, three of them were died and 18 others were injured.” The rocky mountainous road has become a temporary route for people traveling between Garmian and Sulaimani as the Darbandikhan tunnel is currently undergoing reconstruction and maintenance.
