The Kurdistan Parliament’s presidency released a statement calling on the lawmakers to attend a session at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The parliament’s session will be about “the election of the candidates for the post of the Kurdistan Region’s President. Last week, The Kurdistan Parliament released five names as official candidates for the position.
At least five people were killed on Sunday when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated at a local market in a town near Iraq’s Mosul. According to Iraq’s Joint Operations Command, the incident occurred when the IED exploded at a popular market in the sub-district of Rabia, Nineveh governorate, close to the Syrian border. The attack targeted the Awenat market in the northwestern Iraqi town, leaving five people dead and at least eight more injured.
European elections: Greens and far-right gain ground as traditional centre fragments. The elections were viewed as a test of the recent influence of the nationalist, populist and hard-right movements in recent years. The far-right and pro-environment Greens gained precedence on Sunday following four days of a polarised vote.
