Sir Elton John has revealed he contracted a “potentially deadly” bacterial infection in South America that put him in intensive care.

The singer became “violently ill” during a flight back to the UK from Santiago, Chile, where he performed recently in April.
Elton John, 70, cancelled scheduled Las Vegas shows after spending two days in intensive care undergoing treatment in the UK. Cancelled shows include performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas where he was set to headline with The Million Dollar Piano.

“During his return flight home from Santiago, Chile he became violently ill. Upon returning to the UK, Sir Elton’s doctors admitted him to hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection,” a statement on behalf of the singer said.
Sir Elton apologised to his fans “I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them,” he said in a statement. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.” he said. Get well soon Elton
